Dr. Marvin H. Massey Sr, ND, PhD is a naturopathichealth practitioner and health coach. Naturopaths do notdiagnose diseases or prescribe drugs.Naturopaths suggest lifestyle changes and recommendproper dietary adjustments.He earned the rank of Eagle Scout, and is a veteranwhere he served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division.Dr. Massey began his journey as a healer in 1989 uponearning his 1“ Degree Black Belt in Shorei-go Ryu Karate.Upon earning his 3rd Degree Black Belt in 1992, he wasawarded his teaching certificate in karate, the sensei rank.In addition, to being a teacher a sensei must also becomea healer, the Japanese translation of sensei is teacher ordoctor, the theory is that if you harm someone you mustbe able to heal them as well. The historical first teacher ofkarate was Bodhidharma a Buddhist monk from India. Hetraveled over the Himalayan mountains into the countryof China. He was an adept and healer in yoga.It then occurred to Dr Massey that it would standto reason that by studying yoga he could become a moreproficient healer himself. So, he found a yoga instructoronly three blocks from his house, taught by Barbra JoKennedyIn 1995 he was led to study tai chi and Qi gongwith instructor Leslie Mills, which are in the family ofThe Chinese healing arts. Traditional Chinese Medicineis based on the chi (energy) concept. Using a series ofmeridians in the body which are associated with the organsin the body. The healing points are used in acupunctureand acupressure.He was introduced to the healing art of Reiki in 1999and became a Reiki master and teacher. The followingyear he studied at the Academy of Reflexology and HeathTherapy International. There he received his certification inmassage therapy and in that same year he became certifiedin reflexology. Dr Massey served as a member of the facultyat the same institution from 2006 through 2008.He completed his B.S. in Holistic Health from theAmerican Institute of Holistic Theology in 2010. In 2013he received his M. H. in Herbology and the following yearearned his Doctor of Naturopathy from Trinity Collegeof Natural Health.Dr Massey was awarded his grh Degree Black Belt in2017 by the late Grand MasterHerb Johnson.The next year he earned his Doctor of Philosophyin Natural Medicine from The New Eden College of Clinical Natural Medicine. He is an Ordained Minister in the Order of Melchizdek. As of this writing he still actively teaches the martial arts and guides people to make healthy choices.
